Massive confusion in Pennsylvania, voting-machine problems in Ohio, long lines in Virginia, technical problems in Texas, and widespread difficulties in New Jersey. These are just a few of the issues Election Protection is monitoring today.
Tanya Clay House, Public Policy Director for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, spoke with Roll Call about the difficulties voters have communicated to Election Protection’s hotline, 1-866-OUR-VOTE.
“Massive confusion in Pennsylvania,” House said. “The state did not do a good job about informing people that they do not have to show photo ID in order to vote. Poll workers are telling them they do and people are being turned away.”
New Jersey is also having its fair share of trouble as they restructured their voting rules in the Aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. House called it a “hot bed” of reported problems.
