According to The Politico's Ben Smith, Latino voters in the State of Nevada are being urged to not vote in the 2010 midterm elections by “Latinos for Reform.” Latinos for Reform, a third party operation, started similar campaigns targeting the Latino community during the 2008 elections. President of Latino’s for Reform and political analyst for Univision, Robert de Posada, commissioned the ads to run in Nevada in response to what he frames as Hispanic resentment over the failure of Congress to pass immigration reform.
The Election Protection Coalition believes all eligible voters should fully participate in our democracy. This year we continue to work with organizations advocating on the behalf of the Latino communities across the country. We are committed to protecting the right to vote for all eligible voters and will continue to engage our partners in ensuring voters are educated, informed and well equipped at the polls.
